Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF)
Living well during your retirement means managing your retirement income wisely. When you terminate your RRSP, all the money remains sheltered from tax if you move it to a Retirement Income Option (RIO) and only the money withdrawn each year is taxed for that year. An RRIF is the most flexible RIO and is best suited to people who want to make their own decisions regarding their retirement income.

Index-Linked RRIF Term Deposits
The beauty of these products is that they allow you to invest in stock markets without any risk to your principal. With no fees or commissions, your principal is guaranteed and you choose a fixed term of 3 or 5 years. These funds would be non-redeemable for the life of the investment, therefore you would be required to have sufficient other RRIF investments with NLCU to cover the minimum payment for the term of the index linked investment. Rate of return is calculated on the performance of the S&P/TSX.
